Can VVDI 2 Modify KM BMW Instrument Clusters 2001-2018?
Discover the capabilities of VVDI 2 in modifying KM (kilometer) readings on BMW instrument clusters from 2001 to 2018. This article highlights its compatibility, features, and step-by-step instructions for efficient KM modification.
This post will explain how to change km on BMW instrument clusters 2001-2018 by using Xhorse VVDI2 programmer as the title indicates.
VVDI2 supports the following types so far:
- EWS1
- EWS2
- EWS3
- EWS4
- CAS1 (0K50E)
- CAS2 (2K79X)
- CAS3 (0L01Y)
- CAS3+ (0L01Y/ 0L15Y/0M23S)
- CAS4 (1L15Y)
- CAS4 (5M48H)
- M35080 (E – Series cluster)
- F – Series cluster
Main menu path:
Go to home menu>> Select Special function>> File Change KM
Main steps to change EWS/CAS mileage with VVDI2:
Download the corresponding EEPROM data
Input the new km
Click ‘Change KM’
Save the file and write back.
How to adjust mileage on CAS1/CAS2/CAS3/CAS3+ encrypted version?
- Note down the KM displayed in the instrument, remove instrument from car, prevent synchronize KM with CAS
- Set CAS KM to 0km (Change KM via OBD or File Change KM, choose the corresponding CAS version to change)
- Read instrument EEPROM dump with BDM programmer, the EEPROM memory chip is M35080
- Select File Change KM -> M35080 Instrument and load EEPROM dump saved in step 3
Note:
There are two ways to compute: try using the alternative way. Compare the old mileage value with the original one in step 1 and pick the method that matches it.
- Input new KM
- Press button “Change KM” and save new EEPROM dump
- Write new EEPROM dump to M35080 chip
- Install the instrument back to the car
- Finished
How to adjust mileage on F chassis (CAS4)?
- Note down the KM displayed on the instrument, remove the instrument from the car and prevent it from synchronizing KM with CAS
- Reset CAS KM to 0km (Use File Change KM, choose type with mask, support 1L15Ymask and 5M48H mask)
- Read instrument EEPROM dump with BDM programmer
- Select File Change KM -> F-Series Instrument and load EEPROM dump saved in step 3
- Enter new KM Click on “Change KM” and save new EEPROM dump
- Write new EEPROM dump to M35080 chip
- Put the instrument back to the car
- Done
To sum up, just check the BMW instrument type of your car. If it is one of the types that Xhorse VVDI2 key programmer can support, then you can follow the steps above to change mileage.
